PC based telephone call logging system project help

Dear all,

I have been given PC based telephone call logging system by my project supervisor. But i am a bit struggling to find resourse and break down structure, software, etc. please advice me on my projects and ebooks, magazine, etc. I have been told to build a hardware which is going to be connect to PC.

And also i need to write a software to monitor on PC. So which language should i used?? how can i connect the software and hardware. What kind of singnal i should get out from hardware. Please help me. i need to monitor about call ID, time, and cost, ect.

Check the caller ID project and also the IVRS project.
Get the telephone number and send the data to the PC through serial port.
Use Visual basic at PC side to get the data and store it a database.
Check the code library page for interfacing PC with microcontroller.
